Joel Roskind MD Retires from Active Practice to Serve as a Teacher
Plastic surgeon Dr. Joel Roskind, who ran a large, successful clinic on Long Island before moving to Miami to advise, has returned to the New York area to teach, advise and pursue a personal interest in Judaic spirituality. Dr. Joel Roskind, also returns to Boston University Medical School, where he has instructed previously, to teach a case management course called Integrated Problems.
As the operator of a successful plastic surgery practice, a board certified surgeon licensed in four states, a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and former inspector for the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAASF), Dr. Joel Roskind is qualified to lecture and consult in many areas of medical practice.
As a practicing surgeon, Dr. Joel Roskind witnessed firsthand changes in the healthcare industry leading to an progressive number of processes being performed outside the traditional hospital atmosphere. Always patient oriented, Dr. Roskind’s concerns about the safety of outpatient and ambulatory surgery facilities extended to a long association with the AAAASF, including over 20 years of service as a facilities inspector. He is well positioned to serve operators of such facilities meet the highest quality standards required by insurers today.
Dr. Joel Roskind was heavily involved with the AAAASF during the cost-induced shift from hospital to outpatient procedures, and is well versed in patient safety and regulatory compliance matters surrounding outpatient and ambulatory clinics. He has also taken a good interest in the business side of medicine and now advises in the region of practice management.
Making sure patients get the best possible care in the soundest possible environment has been a priority for Dr. Joel Roskind throughout his medical work. Although he is retired from active practice, Joel Roskind is looking forward to continuing to contribute to the medical domain. In addition to lecturing and advising, Dr. Joel Roskind also plans to pursue a long time personal interest in Judaic spirituality.
