There are numerous tools available to the fuzz, private investigators and the common world to serve in investigations. There is nothing more conclusive than a video recording that confirms criminal or unlawful doings. Umpteen people have used covert cameras as a good style to supervise nannies and tiddlers.
I at one time learned of a nanny who was arrested for mistreating some kids with a covert camera inside of a DVD player. You can obviously steal covert cameras in all sorts of things like clocks.

This is specially useful if the constabularies are trying to track someone or a private researcher or rejected married person is trying to catch their significant other unfaithful.

There are really quite a few of them outside there. You should always check your local laws before applying the equipment so you do not break any privacy statutes.
